Wat Phra That Doi Kaeng, Doi Tao District
The pagoda contains the relics of the forehead. On the full moon day of the third lunar month, Makha Bucha Day, there will be a bathing ceremony for the pagoda every year.
What you can't miss when visiting Wat Phra Borommathat Doi Kaeng and must visit is the pagoda containing the relics of the Buddha, the left forehead bone of the Buddha. According to history, Queen Chamadevi came to pay homage to the Phra Borommathat Doi Kaeng when she ruled Hariphunchai (Lamphun) in 1200 B.E. and in 1920-1921, Khru Ba Chao Siwichai, a saint of Lanna, came to renovate and build a pagoda to cover the old pagoda. Later, on February 18, 1921, Somdet Krom Phraya Damrong Rajanubhab came to pay homage to the Phra Borommathat Doi Kaeng along with Khru Ba Siwichai at that time. However, Wat Phra That Doi Kaeng was in a state of disrepair for a while until 1986, the abbot of Hod District (Phra Khru Phiphitthana Kanaphiban) at that time. Currently, it is Phra Thammakanlakacharn (Wi.), the abbot of Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province, who came to renovate it again. And later, Khru Ba Boonsri Aphipunno, the current abbot, made a pilgrimage up here. And led the faithful, both Thais and foreigners, to renovate it again by covering it in gold leaf to make the whole body shine yellow, looking very beautiful. Tourists can come to worship the Phra That Doi Kueng Chedi every day. And on the full moon day of the 3rd lunar month, Makha Bucha Day, there is a Phra That bathing ceremony every year. #Tourist attractions in Chiang Mai #Visit Doi Tao #Wat Phra That Doi Kueng
