The Zhongshan Grottoes are no less beautiful than the four major grottoes in China.

Zhongshan Grottoes are located 15km outside of Zichang City, Yan'an, Shaanxi Province. The weather in northern Shaanxi is dry and cold in winter. It has just snowed and the mountains are covered with white snow. The Zhongshan Grottoes were excavated in the fourth year of Zhiping in the Northern Song Dynasty (1067) and were built along the mountain, facing north and south, with a typical vertical axis layout.
