21 years of self-driving Zhongwei, from the desert camping base camp, we went to the Shapotou tourist area, then to Highway 66. Shapotou tourist area is located at the confluence of the Yellow River and the Tengger Desert, where both the magnificence of the Yellow River and the vastness of the desert, the natural landscape and human experience are perfectly integrated. The first thing that comes into view is the splendid view of the Yellow River, with its waters sparkling in the sun and its shady banks, which contrasts sharply with the desert in the distance. Known as the “Chinese version of Highway 66,” Ningxia Zhongwei’s Highway 66 is a stunning highway that crosses the Yellow River and the desert, with both the vastness of the northwest and unique natural wonders, making it a paradise for self-driving enthusiasts. In the middle of the highway, the dunes gradually approach and seem to blend in with the highway.
