Counting Stars in Zhaoqing: An Amazing Journey Through Seven Stars Park

#chinatrip Seven Star Rocks Scenic Area is located in the center of Zhaoqing City in Guangdong Province. The beauty and serenity of this place make it ideal for a relaxing excursion, and the historical sights also present in this picturesque place enhance the attraction of this "tourist magnet". The location of these seven rocks in the limestone mountains exactly corresponds to the location of the stars of the Big Dipper, and therefore the name "Seven Stars" was given to them based on the legend that they were formed from the remains of seven stars that fell from the sky into a nearby lake. The name of national park and tourist area comes from the seven rocks that line its shores. To admire the magnificent view of the cliffs, you can climb the stairs to one of them and explore the other six and the lake from the pavilion built on top of it. The rocks are decorated with hundreds of inscriptions on the cliff sides dating back to the Tang Dynasty, which are carefully studied by both art historians and scientists. These rocks have long been praised in ancient Eastern poetry and described in many haiku. Caves are also given religious significance because Buddhist temples are located in and near them. Walking paths will take you around the lake and wind around its mountains, cliffs, embankments, trees and caves filled with stalactites. Sometimes you can find pieces of inkstone (used for traditional Chinese carvings) or purchase a pre-carved stone at a gift shop. A network of bridges stretches across the lake, dividing it into "five lakes", which allows tourists to walk along the water surface and see small islands and underground caves up close. You can even sail a small boat across the lake and go down into these underground burrows or swim along an underground river. Buddhist and Taoist religious sculptures are scattered throughout the lake, and the Qingyun Temple is also nearby. Koi carp pools and picnic areas are a great offer for a family picnic or barbecue. Star Lake's attractiveness and cultural significance have earned it the status of a national park in China.
