Originally named Amitabha Thousand Buddha Pagoda, it is a mixed brick and adobe structure with a whitewashed exterior. The brick and earth structure stands 32.5 meters high and is a Tibetan Buddhist stupa. A distinctive feature is the construction of a small tower at each corner of the first and second tier bases. In 1927, the top of the tower was destroyed by an earthquake in Zhangye, and in 1986, the Zhangye cultural department restored it to its original state. The current tower is a relic from the Ming Dynasty. The Yiquan Tower consists of three parts: the base, the body, and the finial. It tapers upwards in thirteen sections, with a canopy diameter of over four meters, decorated with thirty-six copper tiles and thirty-six tassel wind chimes, bearing some resemblance to the White Pagoda in Beijing. The most unique aspect of the Tuta is the eight small lama towers on the two-tiered Sumeru base. These eight small towers are similar in shape to the main tower, surrounding it like stars around the moon. This gives the Zhangye Tuta the characteristics of a Vajra Throne Tower, but it differs from the common Vajra Throne Tower with one main tower and four small towers, representing a variant form of the Vajra Throne Tower.
