Zhangjiakou Fort Scenic Area

Zhangjiakou Fort Scenic Area, commonly known as Baozili, is located in the central part of Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. It was first built in the fourth year of the Xuande era of the Ming Dynasty. Zhangjiakou Fort has a history of nearly 600 years, with more than 700 existing cultural relics and ancient sites, including 93 key courtyards of great value. It is one of the most well-preserved Ming and Qing architectural fortresses in large and medium-sized cities in China, known as the "Museum of Ming and Qing Architecture." It is also the "origin" and "root" of Zhangjiakou City, bearing witness to the historical vicissitudes and gradual prosperity of Zhangyuan over the past 600 years. On March 5, 2013, Zhangjiakou Fort was announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
