All of them were unearthed from the underground palace of Famen Temple in Baoji, Shaanxi Province in 1987, and were included in the "First List of Cultural Relics Prohibited from Exhibition Abroad" in 2002. 【One】Tang Dynasty Silver Flower Double Wheel Twelve Rings Tin Staff The staff was made in the 14th year of Tang Xiantong (873). The word "staff" in Sanskrit means "to make a sound". When Buddhist monks beg for alms, they will shake the staff outside the door instead of knocking. The staff has four prongs, two wheels and twelve rings on its head. It is a symbol of the highest authority in Buddhism and belongs to the Buddha Shakyamuni. It is known as the "King of Staffs in the World" for its historical significance and artistic value. But in fact, it was not used by Sakyamuni, but a gift from Emperor Yizong of Tang Dynasty when he sent the Buddha's relics back to Famen Temple on the sixth of six occasions when eight emperors of the Tang Dynasty welcomed and sent off the Buddha's relics. It is also the only four-pronged, double-wheeled, twelve-ring staff in the world. 【Two】 Yae Treasure Box The eight-layer treasure box is a set of gold and silver boxes donated by Emperor Yizong of the Tang Dynasty to enshrine the finger relics of the Buddha Shakyamuni. A relic is placed inside the box. The outermost layer is a sandalwood box, which contains three silver treasure boxes, two gold treasure boxes, a jade treasure box and a single-eaved, four-door pure gold pagoda. However, as the outermost layer, a sandalwood treasure box with a silver-edged hipped roof, was damaged when it was unearthed, only seven layers can be seen now. The eight-layer treasure box was specially made by the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty to store Buddha's relics and is of very high level. The so-called Buddha bone relics are the relics obtained by his disciples after the cremation of the body of Buddha Sakyamuni. There are four Buddha finger relics in Famen Temple, three shadow bones (fake) and one spirit bone (real). And what is placed in the eight-layer treasure box is one of the three shadow bones. Shadow bones are not real relic bones, but are specially made to protect the relic bones (to confuse people) and have the same value as the relic bones. The Eight-fold Treasure Box is the most exquisite and highest-grade set of relic containers among the cultural relics in Famen Temple. It is also the relic casket with the most layers, the most exquisite craftsmanship, the most ingenious design and the highest grade discovered in the world. 【Three】Bronze Pagoda The bronze pagoda, also known as the gilded pagoda, is a gold and silver artifact placed in the white marble painted Ashoka stone pagoda in the front room of the underground palace. It is divided into three parts: the base, the body, and the pagoda top. Inside is a silver coffin with a gilded garuda bird pattern. The fourth Buddha's finger relic is inside the lid of the gilded silver coffin with a Kalavinka bird pattern.
