The Roman City Walls at England

The Roman invaded Britain in AD43 under Emperor Claudius. In Rome, after the death of Emperor Caligula, his uncle, Emperor Claudius, was the next Emperor of Rome and they decided to conquered Britain to support the political and financial situation for the Roman Emperor. Their invasion was succeed and settled in York. At that time, York was called Eboracum by Roman. Then, the saxon called its English name as Eoforwick. The Roman had built the infrastructures in York and it includes roads, fortress, houses, city walls (as you could see from these above pictures) to strengthen its military status in York. #york #romancitywall
