Okapi, the Lady of the Forest!

The first time I saw okapis, they were lovely and I am amazed because it is like a mix of a deer and a giraffe. It is one of the World’s four large rare animals, the okapi The popular okapi in Zoorasia are considered one of the World’s four large rare animals and is registered as an official endangered species. The okapi, native to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is related to the giraffe and is known for its characteristic striped rear. Zoorasia has actually had success in breeding the rare okapi. Okapis are very shy. Their reddish brown-black coat camouflages them in the deep forest. In the thick trees and underbrush, okapis rely on their hearing to warn them of danger. Their huge ears pick up even the softest sounds coming from any direction. They listen for leopards, which hunt adult okapis, as well as smaller wild cats, which can attack a young calf. #animalcontact #100waysoftravel #japantrip
