The visit to Akarenga Soko at Yokohama

#japantrip The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, also known as the Akarenga Soko, is one of the masterpiece buildings left behind by the olden government institution. It was originally used as the customs buildings. During the late 19th century Yokohama city government is working on constructing new Harbour facilities as part of the cross country modernisation process. It took the government 6 years to complete the buildings from 1899 to 1905. There are 2 buildings in total, the first one is used as event venue for art exhibition, film festival, plays etc, while building 2 houses a shopping mall and restaurant arcade. The square in the middle of the buildings are used to.host events like Christmas Market, October fest and Ice skating rink.
