Yingxian Wooden Pagoda: A Thousand-Year-Old Charm and Wisdom

In this era of information explosion, we are grateful for games like Black Myth: Wukong, which bring ancient legends and relics back to life, leading us to explore those corners forgotten by time. This time, my steps were drawn to a wooden pagoda, the Sakyamuni Pagoda of Fogong Temple in Yingxian County, Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, known as the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. My first encounter with the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda was in the works of Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin. Their descriptions of architectural art were like ancient spells, awakening my infinite longing for the beauty of architecture. Now, I finally have the opportunity to witness this treasure of Liao Dynasty architecture and experience its thousand-year-old charm. Entering the scenic area, the wooden pagoda stands tall, like a silent elder, telling the vicissitudes of history. The entire pagoda is built without a single nail, relying solely on mortise and tenon joints, a testament to the wisdom and craftsmanship of its builders. Along with the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Eiffel Tower, the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda is one of the world's three great towers. It not only attracts global attention with its unique architectural form but also symbolizes the wisdom of the Chinese nation with its profound cultural heritage. The scenic area is not large, but every corner is full of charm. The statue of Guanyin beside the wooden pagoda is dignified and kind, as if it can cleanse the dust from people's hearts. Xiaoxitian is an excellent spot for photographing the wooden pagoda, blending the ancient tower with the blue sky and white clouds into a beautiful picture. The three colors of the creative ice cream each have their own merits. My daughter chose chocolate, while I preferred the yellow, like autumn sunshine, warm and bright. While touring, I couldn't help but wonder why the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda has stood for a thousand years. Perhaps it is the reverence and adaptation to nature, and the ultimate pursuit of architectural art, that created this miracle. In today's fast-paced society, should we also learn to slow down and appreciate the beauty carved by time?
