The night market is said to be open until 2 AM. D2 📍 Tengger Desert Five Lakes Crossing Choose a reliable guide, the whole trip is exciting and fun, not as bumpy or nauseating as imagined (I personally don’t get motion sickness) Note ⚠️ The lakes are lighter in color during winter; if you want vibrant lake colors, it’s better to visit in summer. The desert has strong UV rays, so be sure to use sun protection! Outfit tip: Wear bright-colored clothes or accessories to stand out against the endless desert—very eye-catching! D3 (Originally planned to take the high-speed train round-trip to Wuhai, but due to the closure of Wuhai Lake Scenic Area, the route was changed to Zhongwei. It’s recommended to charter a car in Zhongwei as the attractions are far apart and taxis are inconvenient in the off-season; local drivers familiar with the roads can easily find the entrance to Highway 66) 🚄 Arrive at Zhongwei South Station (10 AM) 📍 Highway 66: A great spot for photos, perfect for wasteland, wanderer, and biker styles! 📍 Beichangtan Ancient Village: Filming location for the TV drama "Minning Town." As a loyal fan, visiting Beichangtan Village was very moving. You can also see the Yellow River, and the reeds by the river are unexpectedly photogenic~ The whole village is full of jujube trees; 10 yuan can buy a big bag of jujubes. 📍 Shapotou, highly recommend the Flying Prosperity and sand sliding activities, you’ll want more after playing! 🚄 Return to Yinchuan (depart at 5 PM) D4 [Book a rideshare in advance during the off-season] 📍 Helan Mountain Rock Paintings Visit the museum first, then explore the site. The scenic area is small, and I personally think the sightseeing bus is unnecessary; there really are ibex! On the way to the Han Meilin Art Museum, walking toward the exit, we encountered a large group of ibex! 📍 Western Xia Imperial Tombs The tombs are quite similar; you can choose to visit 1-2 of them; ➡️ Return: Take the 19:12 high-speed train to the airport to catch the 20:30 flight, plenty of time. 🍚 What to eat: Huaiyuan Night Market: 4.5 yuan beef pancakes, 12 yuan per jin spicy strips, 4 yuan grilled gluten, 30 yuan one-meter beef skewers, Fangha, Lao Mou’s yogurt… all delicious~ Osman Spicy Paste: Similar to freshly cooked sticky spicy hot pot, the broth is quite salty and might take some getting used to; Guoqiang Hand-Pulled Lamb: The hand-pulled lamb is really good, portions are large, better for groups of 3 or more; Yang Gazi BBQ: A must-try! Any lamb dish you order won’t disappoint! Lao Ma’s Lamb Offal Soup: Cheap and generous portions! The lamb offal soup is super flavorful! Lao Mugua Noodles: The last meal before leaving Yinchuan, near the train station, both the hand-pulled noodles and clay pot dishes are very good.
