Before going, I was also torn about the Shanxi side, but after experiencing both personally, I still feel the Shaanxi side offers a superior "cultural experience." First, the visual enjoyment is absolutely stunning. Standing on the Shaanxi viewing platform, facing the waterfall head-on, the Yellow River water rushes toward me with such force—the sense of pressure and shock is incomparable to any side view. I was also lucky to see the "double waterfall in one frame"—the main waterfall thundering powerfully, and just a short walk ahead is the gentle "50 yuan RMB photo spot waterfall." One ticket lets you see two magnificent sights; the cost performance is unbeatable! Plus, the weather was perfect, with a rainbow steadily arching over the waterfall in the afternoon, combining grandeur and romance 😀. Even more valuable are the free cultural feasts! There is the Yellow River Geological Museum here, where you can learn about the formation of the Yellow River—very informative. It explains how Hukou Waterfall was formed over tens of thousands of years and why the riverbed looks the way it does, in an easy-to-understand and interesting way. After visiting, seeing the waterfall feels completely different—you see not just water, but a flowing geological epic. In contrast, the Shanxi side, while spectacular in scenery, offers an experience that mostly stays at the "visual" level. On the Shaanxi side, from your eyes to your ears and then your soul, you feel like you have completed a deep pilgrimage to the Yellow River civilization. This 100 yuan really doesn’t feel like a ticket; it’s more like a super valuable "Yellow River soul" tuition fee!
