Two-day One-night Trip to Changdao Island

🗓Itinerary: Drive from Qingdao for two and a half hours to Penglai Changdao Passenger Terminal (We arrived at noon, and the parking lot at the terminal was already full. There is an unfinished building a bit further past the terminal entrance where you can park. It's shaded and costs 50 yuan if you leave before 7 PM the next day.) The place to board the ferry was crowded, so buy tickets in advance on the Changdao Ferry WeChat mini-program (Buying tickets on-site might not get you the desired time, and you'll have to wait.) You can pick up tickets on-site or use your ID card to enter directly. We took a roll-on/roll-off ferry with cars, which was very noisy. If you want to go to the upper deck, it costs 20 yuan per person, and you get a sausage to feed the seagulls. (The normal ferry ticket area for feeding seagulls is blocked by nets. We bought tickets to go upstairs, but it was crowded.) It takes about 50 minutes to reach Changdao. We had arranged for a driver from our homestay to pick us up. After disembarking, you need to walk ten minutes to the pick-up parking lot. It's very sunny and humid. The island is small, with only taxis and tour buses. If possible, it's recommended to rent a car. There are many small electric vehicles, and you can scan a code to rent one if you can ride. ⛰【Attraction Guide】 📍Detailed Address: Jiuzhangya and Crescent Bay on the northernmost part of North Changdao Island 🚗Transportation Guide: Take a taxi from near Mingzhu Square, costing over 30 yuan 💰Ticket Price: There is an island-wide pass for 150 yuan that covers several attractions 🌟Highlights: The scenery is nice. The beach is made of pebbles and worth seeing. 📌Tips: We took a taxi to Jiuzhangya first. It takes less than an hour to walk around slowly. From Jiuzhangya, you can take an electric car for 20 yuan per person to Crescent Bay Beach. It's just a beach with nothing else to see. You can feed sea lions with 20 yuan worth of fish food, which is good for kids. The main point is!!!! It's hard to get a taxi from Crescent Bay Beach!!! There is a tour bus to the west of the entrance, costing 5 yuan per person. It leaves only when full. We waited for an hour on the bus before it departed (we left during sunset at Jiuzhangya, so the bus was empty. The driver took us back to Jiuzhangya to fill the bus before leaving, so the wait was very long). The bus has several stops. We got off at the final stop, Mingzhu Square. There is a night market at the square in the evening, and Mingzhu Beach is also there. For someone who grew up by the sea, it's just okay. ⛰【Attraction Guide】 📍Detailed Address: On the second day, take a taxi from Mingzhu Square to Fengshan Forest Park for 10 yuan. It opens at 7:30 AM, so it's recommended to arrive early. 🚗Transportation Guide: There is a 20 yuan per person electric car at the entrance, which is a must! Walking up the hill takes a long time. The electric car takes you to the top of the hill first. From there, you walk 220 steps to the top where there is an eagle 🦅. The day we went, it was very foggy, and we couldn't see anything. With the electric car ticket, you can continue to the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea boundary line (viewed from a high point). After that, take a tram-like vehicle to the beach at the boundary line. The beach is also made of pebbles, which kids love. There are other attractions you can visit if you have the energy. 🕙Opening Hours: The park opens at 7:30 AM. There is a light show in the evening. We arrived at 8 AM and finished by 10. The queue for the electric car gets longer, but it's worth the 20 yuan. Keep your ticket as you can use the car throughout the park. We lost our ticket and had to walk to the exit. 💰Ticket Price: Included in the island-wide pass, you can enter with your ID card. 🌟Highlights: The Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea boundary line is worth seeing. The other attractions are small and can be seen quickly. 📌Tips: Take a taxi from the park exit. It cost us 10 yuan to get there but 15 yuan to leave, so we walked to the main road and asked several taxis. 🗓Itinerary: We didn't visit other attractions. We took a ferry back to Penglai at noon on the second day. We bought a higher-class ferry ticket that doesn't carry cars. It costs an extra 20 yuan per person to go upstairs and feed the seagulls. After arriving in Penglai, we had lunch and then drove to Yantai. Last winter, we visited Yantai but didn't go up Yantai Hill because it was too late. This time, we went to see it. ❤Recommendation: There's not much to recommend. It's just a small island. The accommodation is humid, and the place is small. After visiting once, you wouldn't want to go again.
