Guilin - Yangshuo｜Traveling by Electric Scooter

It has been since 2007 that I last came to Yangshuo, and back then I took a bamboo raft. Usually, bamboo raft tours cover 2-6 kilometers, lasting 40-90 minutes, costing 180-320 RMB. It felt like I hadn’t seen enough before reaching the shore, and photo opportunities were limited to the raft area. This time, I wanted to try a different way to experience this earthly paradise—cycling. The most beautiful cycling routes in Yangshuo are concentrated along the Yulong River and the Ten-Mile Gallery area. Riding through the green paths of the Ten-Mile Gallery, the breeze brushes your face, the scent of rice fills the air, before your eyes are the rolling karst peaks, and around you the crisp bird songs and the rustling sound of wheels on the road. It maximizes the joy of free travel‼ This is not only a physical journey but also a spiritual escape. The winding road passes through green meadows like a huge watercolor painting. Cycling here feels like traveling through mountains and waters. Karst peaks in various shapes reflect on the lake surface, water ripples, and mountain shadows sway like a flowing ink painting. The golden time of yellow and green rice fields, with ears of rice gently swaying in the breeze, feels like a dynamic oil painting. Here’s a one-day itinerary: Take a 5 RMB ride from Yangshuo High-Speed Rail Station to Xingping Ancient Town, walk to the 20 RMB scenic spot for photos (navigate to Wangwang Food Fish Restaurant), then return to the drop-off point and take a bus to Yangshuo County, about 15 RMB and 40 minutes. Be sure to rent an electric scooter at the drop-off point; returning it before 6 PM in the off-season costs 20 RMB (prices are higher in peak season). Start cycling by navigating to the Comprehensive Wharf, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Ten-Mile Gallery along the way. The bridge at the Comprehensive Wharf is the best photo spot. After taking photos, navigate to Jima Wharf, cycle toward Gongnong Bridge, then turn left after crossing Gongnong Bridge to enter the Yulong River Scenic Area. Check in at the Rice Fragrance Scenic Area, and follow the road straight back to the rental point. 📍Gongnong Bridge: One of the bamboo raft docks on the Yulong River. 📍Shu’e Di Wharf: Picturesque scenery on both sides of the river, offering stunning pastoral views. 📍Zhuangyuan Trail: This hidden rural trail features mountains and water, like stepping into an ink painting. 📍Jima Wharf: Enter the rice field cycling area from the trail next to Jima Wharf. 📍Popular Swing: Navigate to “Flower Field Sea · Yulong Legend” hotel; a small path opposite leads to the river where you can see the swing. 📍Chaoyang Dam: Many people play in the water and take photos here; it’s very relaxing. 📍Shuangliu Yidu Pavilion: The most beautiful spot on the popular trail, many aerial videos are shot here. 📍Impression Sanjie Liu: Large-scale indoor song and dance performance. Tips: 1️⃣ Cycling through the above spots takes most of the day. If time is limited, choose your favorite few to visit. 2️⃣ Some parts of the Ten-Mile Gallery have no streetlights at night and are hard to get a taxi, so it’s recommended to cycle back to Yangshuo County around 6 PM. There are direct buses back to Guilin near the rental spot. 🚴‍♂️ Cycling Experience: 📌 Recommended route: Start from Yangshuo County, cycle along National Highway 321 to the entrance of the Ten-Mile Gallery Scenic Area, then explore inside the area. 📌 Rental info: There are multiple electric scooter rental points at the scenic area entrance, usually 30-50 RMB/hour. 📌 Cycling tips: Several viewing platforms and parking lots are set up along the way, so you can stop anytime for photos. 📌 Safety notice: Watch for traffic and obey traffic rules.
