Sule Pagoda

It is a pagoda located in the heart of Yangon city, an important geographic area in contemporary Burmese politics. According to legend, the pagoda was built before the Shwedagon Pagoda during the life of the Buddha, making it more than 2,500 years old. The original structure of the Sule Pagoda is believed to have been influenced by Indian stupas, which were similar in form as earthen mounds for storing relics. Later, it began to receive local culture, and the influence of southern India began to change into local architecture in the form of a pagoda. It is believed that it used to be the place where the Buddha's hair relics were enshrined.
