Wan'nan Sichuan-Tibet Line | Find a Small Village to Slow Down

Departing from Nanjing, we found a small village near the entrance of the Sichuan-Tibet Line to take a break. This ancient town of Shuidong is not fully developed yet. The tourist center and public toilets have been built, but many shops are not open, and there are not many tourists. The entire ancient town does not have many attractions, but it is quiet and peaceful with few people, making it a good place to relax during the trip. After reading the introduction at the tourist center, I learned that Shuidong Ancient Town is also a village with a long history. It was first built during the Sui and Tang dynasties, nearly a thousand years ago. The ancient town flourished because of the Shuiyang River, known as the Golden Waterway, which runs alongside it. The 700-meter-long ancient street has been preserved since then. It is said that Emperor Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty once visited here, and the place where he stayed, Xia Street, is also known as 'Jingzhen Street.' The old street has five wells, with the first well, 'Shibatata,' being the most distinctive and historically never dried up. 📍Attraction Address: Navigate to Shuidong Ancient Town There is a parking lot diagonally opposite the tourist center of the scenic area. 👍️Must-visit Attractions: The ancient town still retains some historical buildings worth seeing, such as the 'Da Fu Di,' built during the Wanli period, which has a history of more than 400 years, and the Shuidong Madonna Church, built in the ninth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1870), with a Gothic architectural style and covering an area of more than 700 square meters. These buildings not only have historical value but are also important windows for tourists to understand the local culture and history. 🎟️Ticket Information: Free restaurants, some handicraft exhibition halls require tickets, but they were not open when I visited. 💗Other Tips: There are some small shops on the old street that you can browse, but it is not big, and you can walk through it in half an hour. There are some snack shops by the roadside where you can have lunch.
