Xinjiang Hemu Village, not just pretty, but a place where I felt like I was a local

The place I visited with that kind of heart during my recent trip to Xinjiang was **Hemu Village (禾木村)**. To conclude, it was not just pretty, but a special place that made me feel like I was blending in there. 1. Literally a ‘picturesque village’ Hemu is a mountain village about 2 hours away by car from Kanas (喀纳斯). When you look from afar, fog covers the wooden roofs, surrounded by endless mountains and meadows, a river flows quietly in the middle, and horses pass by slowly. When you look at it only in pictures, it looks like a composite, a movie, and it’s so unrealistic, but when you actually arrive and stand on the hill in the village, it’s all real. It feels like you’ve literally entered a painting. 2. Experience a slow walk through the village on horseback When you arrive at the village, many people try horseback riding. At first, I was just going to watch, but I tried it once with the intention of doing it even passively, and that moment is truly unforgettable. 3. Almost no artificial feeling These days, wherever you go, it's full of Instagram spots, commercial facilities, and cafes for tourists, but Heomu Village is different. The wooden houses, firewood, the sound of horses neighing, dirt roads, cold air, sunset Everything is quiet and natural, as if it was always there. There's no forced experience, and the shops are quiet and simple, and there's no information like 'where to go and what to do', so you can just take your time looking around and feeling. ✔️ Reasons why you must go • Not to take pictures, but to really stay in the scenery • Horseback riding is possible even for beginners, and it is safe and comfortable because it is a slow walking method • The scenery changes depending on the season, so it is different even if you go twice • The trip from Kanas to Heumu is less tiring than you think, and the scenery in between is also beautiful Heumu Village is not just a ‘pretty village’, but it is a place that makes me feel like I stayed there for a day as a person, not a tourist. Even if you only stay in Heumu for one day during your trip, that day will probably be the most memorable of your entire trip.
