Wanfenglin｜Karst Wonderland Walking Guide

With warm sunshine between 10-18℃, the karst peaks paired with early-blooming rapeseed flowers fill the air with the scent of grass and trees, making your trip feel like a cheat code✨ 🏞️ Must-visit! Don’t miss these spots 1. Wanfenglin Core Scenic Area⛰️: The moment you overlook it from the sightseeing bus, you’ll be amazed! Thousands of peaks shoot up like spring bamboo shoots, with terraced fields winding around them, plus the super magical “Bagua Fields.” When mist drifts among the mountains, it looks like a fairyland~ I hiked 2 kilometers along the field trails, stepping on soft soil, getting up close to the indigo-colored peaks and the contrasting green winter wheat. Every photo I took was wallpaper-worthy without filters. I recommend going early in the morning when there are fewer people and the shots come out best! 2. Nahui Village, Buyi Ethnic Village🏡: I really love this slow-paced life! The blue-tiled, white-walled houses are hidden among the peaks, with winding stone paths. In the morning, you can see villagers herding cattle and farming. In the afternoon, the elders sitting in the courtyard basking in the sun are super friendly and will greet you warmly~ I had a bowl of hot lamb noodles at the village entrance, sour, spicy, and fresh, paired with the mountain view in the distance—pure happiness! 3. Winter Rapeseed Flower Sea🌼: Visiting in late January is just perfect! The golden flower sea dots the countryside, and the warm yellow mixed with green is so healing~ I wore a light-colored dress and took lots of photos. The sunlight shining on the flowers even made my hair glow! Remember to go before 9 AM to avoid tour groups and enjoy the whole flower sea all to yourself—who else gets it! 4. Maling River Canyon (on the way)🌊: Just a 20-minute drive from Wanfenglin, the waterfalls in the canyon are spectacular. The water flow is moderate in winter. Walking on the plank road listening to the water sounds, the air is so fresh it’s intoxicating. Definitely worth a stop! 🚗 Transportation & Outfit & Costs - Transportation: Taxi from Xingyi Airport/Train Station to the scenic area costs 30-50 RMB. Sightseeing bus inside the area is 50 RMB per person. I recommend “sightseeing bus + hiking” for both convenience and a deeper experience~ - Outfit: A thin down jacket plus a sweater is enough. Add a scarf for mornings and evenings. Sneakers are a must!
