Vast clouds and waves, a lake veiled in misty rain! Wuling Mountain

Wuling Mountain is located in Xinglong County, Chengde City, Hebei Province, China. As the main peak of the Yanshan Mountain Range, it stands at an elevation of 2,118 meters, covering a total area of 14,246.9 hectares, and is known as the "Highest Peak East of Beijing." Wuling Lake is situated in Yaocqiaoyu Village, Xinchengzi Town, Miyun District, Beijing, adjacent to the Wuling Mountain Scenic Area. This picturesque artificial lake boasts crystal-clear waters, surrounded by rolling hills and offering a tranquil environment perfect for leisure and vacation. With a surface area of approximately 1.2 square kilometers and a storage capacity of about 10 million cubic meters, it serves as one of the important water sources for Miyun Reservoir. The sea of clouds over Wuling Lake is truly breathtaking, especially after rain or at dawn, when the lake's shimmering waters and mist-shrouded mountains blend into a scene straight out of a fairy tale. The sight is particularly spectacular when sunlight pierces through the lingering clouds. From the Yaocqiaoyu Reservoir Dam or Wuling Villa, the panoramic views allow for capturing the mesmerizing sight of mist rising over the lake. During this trip, I stayed at Wuling Villa and was greeted by a clear morning after rain. As dawn broke, milky-white mist slowly rose from the lake, weaving through the emerald-green mountains. The distant silhouette of Wuling Mountain faintly emerged, while the mirror-like lake reflected the drifting clouds, creating an illusion of an inverted sky and earth. Occasionally, a gust of wind would stir the sea of clouds, revealing the mountain peaks in fleeting moments, like strokes in an ink-wash painting.
