Let go of Ma Hua Fishing Village, the plum blossoms are in full bloom here in Shaoxing.

Weekend getaway to Shaoxing I stumbled upon a small village even more beautiful than Ma Hua Fishing Village in She County, Anhui. The mountains and fields are covered with blooming plum blossoms, a sea of red 🌸 and white. I was absolutely stunned. 📍Navigate to Shangwu Village 🧭. Plum blossom forests line the road along County Road 802. Xinchang, where I traveled this time, is a truly off-the-beaten-path destination. This little-known town on the Tang Poetry Road is now my go-to for weekend getaways 🏖️👋. It hides so many fun places. 🍁What to do❓ ❶Xinchang Dafo Temple: Recently featured in the TV series "Jiu Zhong Zi" 🔥, it has served as a filming location for many dramas. The Reclining Buddha at the Valley of Prajna and Shuanglin Caves makes you feel like you've stepped into Shanxi. Its reputation as the "Dunhuang of the State of Yue" is well-deserved. Wearing Hanfu here makes for great photos. ❷Chuan Yan Nineteen Peaks: Known as the "Little Guilin of Jiangnan", the peaks ⛰️ are steep and the rocks rugged. Scenes from "Swordsman" and "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils" were filmed here. ❸Tianmu Mountain: The poet Li Bai once left behind an immortal masterpiece here. The ancient roads, bridges, and villages in the mountains all exude a rich historical and cultural atmosphere. ❹Banzhu Ancient Village, Zhang Dazong Ancestral Hall: Those who love ancient architecture can visit this village. It's a small village at the foot of Tianmu Mountain. There used to be a Tianmu Post Station. The Simahui Bridge at the entrance of the village is also a great photo spot 📷. It's a perfect place to play in the water in summer. ❺Zhenjun Hall: Located on the top of Wozhou Mountain, with a reservoir at its entrance. The wood carvings in this hall are exquisite. ❻Xiayanbei Village: A popular village located on a mountaintop. You can overlook Nineteen Peaks and the Hanfei River Canyon from the viewing platform. There are several popular cloud coffee shops in the village. It's a great place to photograph sunrises and sunsets. 🏨Where to eat and stay❓ I stayed at the newly opened, popular designer hotel, Antianman, in Xinchang for the weekend. The hotel is located at the foot of Nineteen Peaks. The rain and mist-shrouded Nineteen Peaks looked so ethereal. It felt like I was in Western Sichuan. It also has a huge open-air swimming pool. Imagine coming here in the summer to soak in the pool and watch the stars. It's incredibly relaxing. The rooms have underfloor heating, making them comfortable even in damp, rainy weather. The toiletries are all L'Occitane, and I love the scent. 👉Around the hotel ✅Jingling Old Street 🚗5 minutes. There's a covered bridge as old as the old street itself. ✅Meizhu Ancient Village 🚗10 minutes. A village full of local life. ✅Xiayanbei 🚗15 minutes. Great for a coffee break. ✅Nineteen Peaks 🚗5 minutes. Hiking 🚶‍♀️. Xinchang has so much delicious food 😋, it's a carb lover's paradise: taro dumplings, pan-fried soup dumplings, small Beijing buns, wheat cakes 🫓, etc.
