Quanzhou will become a World Heritage site, yet it remains unknown in Xiamen The Wulong Kiln is located in the Xisheng Community of Xiangping Street, Tong'an District, Xiamen City, and is a pottery-making site with a long history. There are a total of 5 kilns at Wulong Kiln, each built with bricks and supported by a stepped corrugated roof, with a square chimney standing at the end of the kiln. Each kiln is about 72 meters long, built on a slope with an incline of about 15°, with a total drop of about 10 meters, resembling a long dragon, hence the name "Wulong Kiln". These kilns were first built in the 25th year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1820) by Hong Tianliang, and have a history of over 200 years. The Wulong Kiln has been continuously firing until it ceased operations in 2007. The products of Wulong Kiln mainly consist of daily-use coarse pottery, including pottery jars, flower pots, pickle jars, wine bottles, dragons, etc., not only supplying the local market but also once exported to Taiwan and Southeast Asia. In 2019, two records of Wulong Kiln were recognized by the Shanghai Great World Guinness Headquarters as the "Longest Single Dragon Kiln" and the "Existing Dragon Kiln Group with the Most Dragon Kilns". Recently, the main repair work of Wulong Kiln has been completed, allowing these dragon kilns with a history of over 200 years to stand tall once again. During the repair process, ancient methods were used to ensure the original appearance of the kiln was preserved. The next step is to accelerate the overall environment renovation of the kiln site and consider revitalizing its use, creating a pottery culture landmark that integrates art display, tourism, and cultural research and study. I just happened to visit the Jinjiaoyi Site in Quanzhou a while ago. Speaking of the kiln site alone, the integrity and appreciation of Kengzaikou are better, but in terms of excavation and packaging, Jinjiaoyi is superior. Hidden in the boudoir, unknown to the public, Xiamen really needs to learn from Quanzhou.
