Nanputuo Temple

Nanputuo Temple was established in the late Tang Dynasty, dedicated to the worship of Avalokitesvara, and shares its name with Mount Putuo, hence the name 'Nanputuo Temple'. The main structures include the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, the Hall of Great Mercy, and the Dharma Hall. On either side, there are the Bell and Drum Towers, Zen halls, and also the Minnan Buddhist Academy. In front of the temple, there is a life-release pond, and behind the temple, the 'Master Taixu Memorial Pagoda' has been newly erected in recent years. Today is the Buddha Bathing Festival, the birthday of Sakyamuni, and a Buddha bathing ceremony is being held in the Dharma Hall.
