From Royal Baths to Clay Soldiers, ending with a love story — What a Day!

Visited Huaqing Palace in the early morning and it was absolutely worth the early start. The grounds were quiet, peaceful, and beautifully framed by Mount Li. We managed to explore Yang Guifei’s famous bathing pools, stroll through the courtyards, and enjoy the scenic gardens without the usual crowds — perfect for photos and taking in the history at our own pace. After our visit, we headed to the Qin Shihuang Mausoleum and Terracotta Army since it’s nearby, which made the flow of the day very convenient. We returned to Huaqing Palace again in the evening for the “Song of Everlasting Sorrow” (长恨歌) show — and it was the highlight of the entire day. The performance, lights, water effects, and storytelling were stunning, using the real mountains as the backdrop. It brought the love story of Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei to life in the most magical way. Overall, Huaqing Palace offers two completely different experiences — a serene, historical visit in the morning and a breathtaking performance at night. Highly recommended to plan your day this way if you’re visiting Xi’an. #falladventures
