InterContinental Xi'an | "Good-looking" and "comfortable to live in"

|About "good looking" and "comfortable to live in". Every year I stay in some well-designed five-star hotels at my own expense. As a user, you can experience the real feeling of being in this space: the floor plan, the hard decoration shape and material finishing details, the lighting, and what I think is the most important soft decoration selection. This time I stayed in the exquisite suite of InterContinental Jingkai Hotel in Xi'an (there are two InterContinental hotels in Xi'an, the highlight of Jingkai Hotel is the guest room, and the highlight of Gaoxin Hotel is the public area). The pure black and white combination makes the color blocks very clear and clean. At the same time, some deconstruction techniques are used to break this unified sense of order, which is very design-oriented. But just "looking good" is not enough, some details are still not "comfortable" enough. Some design techniques were not used appropriately. A transparent partition was built at the entrance. The perspective itself is very good, it increases the sense of depth of the space and allows you to peek into the interior. But if you sleep in bed, you can see the door through this partition, which makes people feel insecure. ■ The furniture chosen is not comfortable enough. The main sofa in the leisure area has a seat height of about 45 centimeters and a very stiff silhouette, making it difficult to relax when sitting on it. 2 The height of the table that matches the main sofa is also awkward. The table of more than 60 centimeters and the sofa with a seat height of more than 40 centimeters make it difficult to place hands and legs. (Refer to the same design of Guangzhou Mandarin Oriental, the 65cm table is matched with a low sofa with a seat height of 35cm, and the leg space height is 30cm, so it is comfortable and practical enough for eating or working) 3 The green single sofa by the window does not fit the body curve well enough, and the protruding headrest is exactly the same as the high-speed rail chair, and the comfort level is average. The socket location is not intuitive. The freestanding washbasin is beautiful, but there is no socket for standing to blow dry your hair, so you can only sit on the dressing table to blow dry your hair. There is a socket under the black table, but the chair is placed behind the socket. You either have to go around to plug it in or move the chair to the socket (the chair is also heavy and difficult to move). The glare from spotlights at rest locations was not taken into account. Like most five-star hotels, there are spotlights installed above the bed, above the sofa, and directly above the toilet and shower room, but it is not comfortable to stay under them, as if there is a small sun above your head. It might be better if you use an adjustable-angle spotlight to shine on the other side so that the light avoids people. Thinking: A good living space must be a space that cares for people, puts itself in our shoes and considers our living conditions and habits, is intuitive, and is natural to use, allowing us to truly relax.
