The highly acclaimed Shaanxi History Museum with a low booking success rate

【Introduction】: It is said that the Shaanxi History Museum is very difficult to book, and you can see a lot of complaints online. When I went to Xi'an in early September 2023, I tried to book a visit. It didn't seem that difficult. I booked the nearest available day, and as soon as the ticket release time arrived, I kept refreshing. If I didn't get it the first time, I tried a couple more times and succeeded. Maybe it was because the peak period for visiting museums had already passed by early September. Of course, given the historical significance of Shaanxi and Xi'an in China, and the numerous artifacts unearthed in Shaanxi, it's understandable that the Shaanxi History Museum is hard to book. In my opinion, there are two museums that are not inferior to the Shaanxi History Museum—Henan Museum and Hubei Provincial Museum—which are not as difficult to book, at least not as quickly sold out as the Shaanxi History Museum. Moreover, from my personal perspective, the exhibits in the Henan Museum and Hubei Provincial Museum seem to be better, as the artifacts from the Chu State appear more impressive. However, I haven't visited the newly opened Qin and Han Pavilion of the Shaanxi History Museum, so I can't comment on that. Throughout history, the northwest has dominated China's history for more than half of the time, with significant periods such as the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties all located in Shaanxi, in Xi'an (Chang'an). After the Tang dynasty, Chang'an gradually declined. The exhibits in the Shaanxi History Museum are arranged according to this proportion, with three exhibition halls and seven units dedicated to the ancient history of Shaanxi. Only one unit covers the period after the Tang dynasty, while the other six focus on the Tang dynasty and earlier. First Exhibition Hall: "Farewell to Apes," "Phoenix Singing on Qishan," "Eastern Empire" Second Exhibition Hall: "Mighty Han Dynasty," "Conflict and Integration" Third Exhibition Hall: "Prosperous Tang Dynasty," "Farewell to the Imperial Capital" Each unit features key artifacts with high historical and artistic value. Attached are some key artifacts. Another main exhibit is the Tang Dynasty Mural Treasures Exhibition, which requires a separate ticket. As the name suggests, this exhibit focuses on exquisite murals from the Tang dynasty and is often visited by professional artists. 🕘【Opening Hours】: Regular hours are 8:30—18:00, currently adjusted to 8:00—18:30 during the summer (ticketing stops at 17:00). 💴【Ticket Prices】: Admission is free but requires a reservation three days in advance. The Tang Dynasty Mural Treasures Exhibition requires a separate ticket, priced at 270 RMB for adults and 130 RMB for students. Unlike other museums, you must successfully book a reservation to enter the Shaanxi History Museum, meaning you need to ensure a successful reservation before purchasing tickets for the Tang Dynasty Mural Treasures Exhibition. ⛺【Key Collections】: Bronze artifacts from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, pottery figurines from various dynasties, gold and silver artifacts from the Han and Tang dynasties, and murals from Tang tombs. 🚌【Transportation Guide】: The specific address of the Shaanxi History Museum is 91 Xiaozhai East Road, Yanta District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.
