Guangren Temple｜May the gods favor, and everything be joyful

In the northwest corner within the city walls of Xi'an, there is a Gelugpa Tibetan Buddhist temple built during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. This temple is renowned nationwide as the only main site dedicated to Green Tara, the only Gelugpa Tibetan Buddhist temple in Shaanxi Province, the only Qing Dynasty royal temple in Xi'an, and a palace for Panchen Lamas and other high lamas from the northwest and Kham regions passing through Shaanxi on their way to Beijing for pilgrimage. This is Guangren Temple. Guangren Temple has a history of over 300 years. Within the temple, there is one of the only two life-sized statues of Shakyamuni Buddha at the age of twelve in the world, the largest Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara in Shaanxi Province, and the only exquisite Thousand Buddha Hall in China. It was a place where Emperor Qianlong and Empress Dowager Cixi worshipped, and also the place where Princess Wencheng worshipped in Chang'an. Guangren Temple is the only main site dedicated to Green Tara in the country, and the statue of Green Tara enshrined in the hall has a history of over 1300 years. When visiting Guangren Temple, besides touring inside, be sure to take a walk around the outside of the temple.
