The life of the Banpo people in the Banpo Museum

Visiting Xi'an, there are countless things to see, do, and eat. Among the many museums, I don't know how many include the Banpo Museum as one of the attractions to visit, but I am one of them. On an afternoon, I took the subway to the Banpo Museum to visit this museum themed around the Neolithic Yangshao culture. After buying a ticket and entering, as per the usual practice, the first thing to do is of course to get a stamp as a souvenir. I picked up a museum guide map and read the introduction. The Banpo Museum is located at No. 155 Banpo Road, Baqiao District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. The Banpo site is the largest and best-preserved matrilineal clan village site from the primitive society in the Yellow River basin, and it is currently the only well-preserved site from the primitive society. Therefore, it is China's first prehistoric settlement site museum. It was opened in April 1958 and is a 'National First-Class Museum'. It is also a Chinese national AAAA-level tourist attraction and one of the 'Top Ten Tourist Attractions in Xi'an'. The museum is divided into three parts: the unearthed relics exhibition hall, the site protection hall, and the auxiliary exhibition hall. The main display is the Banpo site and various cultural relics unearthed from the site. It comprehensively presents the settlement form, cultural connotations, and social nature of the matrilineal society's Yangshao culture site from 6000 years ago. There are timed guided tours available. 🌺Attractions: 👍🏻The museum's main entrance, designed based on the human face and fishnet pattern, is suitable for taking photos. 👍🏻The Banpo girl sculpture, facing the direction right after entering, is suitable for taking photos. 👍🏻The Banpo site, the most worthwhile part to see. It comprehensively reveals the Banpo people's housing construction, defense situation, funeral rites, half-portion privileges, pottery firing, and more. 👍🏻Relic introduction: Another worthwhile part to see. It is divided into five units: 'Green Riverbank', 'Poem of Life', 'Pastoral Symphony', 'Spiritual Charm', and 'Mysterious Mechanism'. Through the unearthed relics, it displays the Banpo people's ecological environment, production and living environment, and the production and usage scenes of production and living tools. Among them, the 'Mysterious Mechanism' unit displays the ancient mysteries left by the Banpo ancestors, including the mysteries of engraved symbols, human face and fish patterns, and pointed-bottom bottles. Experts speculate that these engraved symbols are the precursors to the early writing of the Chinese nation. 👍🏻Relic highlights: Human face net pattern painted pottery basin, bird pattern painted pottery bottle, red pottery pointed-bottom bottle, nail pattern red pottery jar, pottery xun (ocarina), red pottery human head pot, etc. 🌺Transportation: Self-driving parking is not very convenient. Take the subway Line 1 to Banpo Station, exit A Northwest, and walk over 800 meters to arrive. 🌺Ticket: Adult ticket 55 yuan per piece. Can be purchased at the window or online. 🌺Opening hours: 8:00—17:30, ticket sales and entry stop at 17:00. 🎁🎁🎁Tips: 🍀It is recommended to travel by subway, which is more conducive to the reasonable use of time. 🍀Be sure to listen to the volunteer explanations, otherwise, you won't understand anything from 6000 years ago. 🍀Bring enough supplies, as there are no sightseeing cars inside, and you can only walk. 🍀There is only the museum stamp, no other stamps available. The stamping is at the service desk in front of the entrance hall, with 2 stamps available, one museum stamp and one human face net pattern stamp.
