Xi'an, Shaanxi, Huayan Temple

Huayan Temple is the ancestral home of one of the 'Eight Sects of Buddhism', the 'Huayan Sect', and one of the famous Fanchuan Eight Temples of the Tang Dynasty. It is a key Buddhist temple and a national key cultural relics protection unit in China. According to the 'Chang'an Records', Huayan Temple was built during the Zhenguan period of Tang Taizong (627-649 AD). It is a famous scenic spot in the south of Chang'an City. It is not only a place for spring and autumn banquets and summer retreats, but also a place where literati and ink guests stay and hide, leaving a large number of poems and chants. The Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu wrote in 'Looking at the Old Garden': 'I think about returning three times, and I walk on the west road of Duling. The rocks are curved and the sky is deep, the land is flat and the trees are tall. The clouds of Long and the trees of Qin, the wind is high and the frost is early. Zhou Tai Han Garden, the setting sun and the evening grass.' The spiritual pagodas of the first ancestor Du Shun and the fourth ancestor Cheng Guan of the Huayan Sect stand side by side in the temple. The east is the spiritual pagoda of Master Du Shun, and the west is the spiritual pagoda of Master Cheng Guan, both of which were built in the Tang Dynasty.
