First Mosque in China!!!

Muslims came to China early on and spread their ideology and way of life. Xi’an, the capital of the vibrant Tang Dynasty was a welcoming host and Islam took root here in this majestic land. Islam settled comfortably in Xi’an at the most opportune time when ideas were freely exchanged and all ways of life respected. In the Great Mosque of Xi’an the merging of these two cultures is beautifully displayed. The dragon carvings are proof of the Tang king’s support of this place of worship. This mosque maintains its ideological roots with Arabic calligraphy and Quranic verses carved all over and is clothed in the traditional Chinese garment of local architecture and landscaping.
