The Hankou Eastern Orthodox Church was built in 1885 and was originally named the Alexandrov Church. The church is the only Russian Orthodox Church in Wuhan and was an important place for Russian merchants to conduct religious activities during the 19th century after Hankou was opened to foreign trade. The church is a typical Byzantine-style building and has high architectural and artistic value. The Hankou Eastern Orthodox Church, originally named the Alexandrov Church, is the only Eastern Orthodox Church built by Russian immigrants in Hankou. It was built from 1892 to 1895 and is located at the intersection of Poyang Street and Tianjin Road in Jiang'an District, Wuhan, which was the British concession in Hankou at the time. In 1998, the church was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Wuhan. In 2015, Hubei Province renovated the Hankou Eastern Orthodox Church and restored the original onion-shaped spire of the church. The church is currently used as a Sino-Russian exchange center and exhibition hall.
