Muang Temple

Wat Muang is located in Huatapan Subdistrict, Wichian Chai District, approximately 8 kilometers from the city on the Ang Thong-Suphan Buri Road. From Ang Thong, take Highway No. 3195 (Ang Thong-Wichian Chai) and turn left onto R.P.C. Road, At. 4008 for another 1 kilometer. It was originally an abandoned temple built in the late Ayutthaya period. Later, when the capital was lost, the Burmese burned down many houses, temples, and Buddha images. Wat Muang was left in ruins until Phra Khru Wibun Achanakun (Luang Pho Kasem Achansupho) came on a pilgrimage and set up his tent, seeing that it was a suitable place for meditation. While meditating, he saw a vision of Luang Pu Khao and Luang Pu Daeng, telling him to help restore the temple. After that, he began to renovate various religious buildings. After that, Wat Muang has been continuously developed. On September 12, 1986, His Majesty the King granted the Visungkhamasima to Wat Muang. Luang Pho Kasem gathered his heart and prayed together with the faithful people to raise funds to build a large Buddha image to present to His Majesty. Dedicated to His Majesty the King, named “Phra Phuttha Maha Namin Sakyamuni Si Wichian Chai Chan”, with a lap width of 62 meters and a height of 93 meters.
