Shaoguan Wengyuan: Millennium Zen Buddhism Venue - Donghua Zen Temple

📍 Donghua Zen Temple is located in Donghua Mountain, Longxian Town, Wengyuan County, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province. It is a Zen Buddhism venue with a history of over 1500 years. 🌟 In the first year of the Tianjian era of the Southern Liang Dynasty (502 AD), Indian Zen Master Zhiyao Sanzang sailed to Yue and founded Lingjiu Temple in Wengyi (now Wengyuan). 🌟 In the first year of the Longshuo era of the Tang Dynasty (661 AD), Zen Master Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Zen, received the robe and bowl in Huangmei and returned south. He passed through this temple for seclusion and renamed Lingjiu Temple to Donghua Zen Temple. Donghua Zen Temple reached its peak during the Tang and Song dynasties but was destroyed in the Ming and Qing dynasties. 🌟 In 1997, Master Wanxing entered this mountain for a three-year retreat. After coming out of seclusion, he decided to rebuild Donghua Zen Temple. The architectural style of Donghua Zen Temple is unique, mainly featuring the architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties, while also incorporating local characteristics. The Buddha statues, wood carvings, and stone carvings inside the temple are all very exquisite.
