Wencheng Baizhangji (Baizhang Waterfall)

Baizhangji Scenic Area is located in Huangzhuang Village, Baizhangji Town, Wencheng County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is 4 kilometers away from Wencheng County and more than 100 kilometers away from Wenzhou City, with a scenic area of 105 square kilometers. The scenic area is rich in waterfalls and pools. In 2018, Baizhangji Scenic Area began to upgrade its tourism infrastructure. The scenic area mainly consists of two major scenic spots: the hometown of Liu Ji and Baizhang Waterfall. It features majestic waterfalls, unique peaks, beautiful lakes, charming pools, and numerous cultural landscapes. In 2009, Baizhangji Scenic Area was rated as a national 4A tourist attraction. In 2010, it was rated as a Zhejiang Provincial Ecotourism Scenic Area. In 2020, Baizhangji Scenic Area and Liu Ji Temple were combined to create the hometown of Liu Bowen, a national 5A-level scenic area. In July 2022, Wencheng Baizhangji was selected for the second batch of famous mountain parks to be built in Zhejiang Province. Baizhang Waterfall Scenic Area, formerly known as Baizhangji, is a V-shaped deep gorge located at the top of a mountain with an altitude of 300 meters to 638 meters. The gorge is 1,200 meters long, about 3 kilometers deep, with a drop of 353 meters, and a total area of 2.95 square kilometers. The upstream of the waterfall gathers a catchment area of more than 200 square kilometers, forming a torrent rushing into the Baizhang deep valley, creating a stepped waterfall group with one fall being 100 meters high, the second fall being 100 meters deep, and the third fall being 100 meters wide. Among them, the first fall of Baizhang is the highest single waterfall in China, with a height of 207 meters and a width of more than 30 meters. The water outlet is surrounded by sheer cliffs on three sides, forming a deep gorge in the middle.
