The park was built in 1980, opened to the public in 2004, rated as a national AAA tourist attraction in 2006, and rated as a national AAAA tourist attraction in 2023. The park covers a total area of 443 acres, with coconut groves as the main background, integrating scientific research, science education, tourism, sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment. It is an ecological scenic spot with a strong coconut culture. At the same time, the Coconut Grand View Garden is also an important national tropical palm germplasm nursery, a national science education base, a national tropical crop science base, a Hainan science education base, a Hainan primary and secondary school research and practice education base, and a Hainan science popularization base. The park has 217 species of palm plants and more than 130 species of rare trees with Hainan characteristics. Relying on the scientific research strength of the Coconut Research Institute, the Coconut Grand View Garden collects and exchanges coconut germplasm resources from all over the world. It has collected 220 coconut germplasm resources, ranking first in the collection of coconut germplasm resources in China, and is known as the "World Coconut Expo China Coconut Window."
