Chinese Oil Painting Town

Weihai Half Moon Bay Scenic Area is located in the northeast of Weihai city, Shandong province, and is named for its shape resembling half a moon. The area is famous far and wide for its natural beauty, rich natural resources and diverse tourist activities. Half Moon Bay, formerly known as Gushili, was named for its location between the south and north solitary stone capes, and was a fishing port in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The bay opens to the east, about 0.6 kilometers wide, with a water area of about 0.3 square kilometers and a depth of less than 10 meters. The west coast is mostly sandy beaches, where fishing boats anchor. It is known as the "Chinese Oil Painting Town".
