Prater, Vienna

#bucketlistreboot The Prater (full name Wurstelprater) is an amusement park, with its best-known attraction – the Wiener Riesenrad, a Ferris wheel. Constructed in 1897, it was the world’s tallest extant Ferris wheel from 1920 until 1985. The park also features various rides, bumper cars, carousels, roller coasters, shooting galleries and so on. Great place to go with the kids too. This reminded us of London Eye, where we talk more in our London article here. Whether you are planning a city break or a longer stay Vienna is a perfect destination for either. Feel free to consider doing a joint trip Vienna – Bratislava as this is perfectly doable and you’ll kill two birds with one stone. #vienna #austria

Prater

The Prater is a large public park in Leopoldstadt, Vienna, Austria. The Wurstelprater, an amusement park that is often simply called "Prater", lies in one corner of the Wiener Prater and includes the Wiener Riesenrad Ferris wheel. The area that makes up the modern Prater was first mentioned in 1162, when Emperor Friedrich I gave the land to a noble family called de Prato. The word "Prater" was first used in 1403, originally referring to a small island in the Danube north of Freudenau, but was gradually extended to mean the neighbouring areas as well. The land changed hands frequently until it was bought by Emperor Maximilian II in 1560 to be a hunting ground. To deal with the problem of poachers, Emperor Rudolf II forbade entry to the Prater.

One of the best amusement park.. It has amazing attractions, my favorite one rollercoasters 🎢 cafes where you can eat delicious food, worth the price.. There is also wax museum, so you can meet celebrities 😁 I highly recommend to visit Prater #haveafun#attraction#nofearinhorrorroom#themepark#childrenplayground#park#cafe#good#atmosphere
