The Smallest Country in the World! Vatican City Day Trip Guide

When traveling to Italy, most people will set aside a day to visit the smallest country in the world, Vatican City 🇻🇦. Currently, there are only two parts of Vatican City open to tourists: St. Peter's Basilica (including St. Peter's Square) and the Vatican Museums (including the Sistine Chapel). 1️⃣ Duration and Time Allocation In my experience, if you want to climb to the top of St. Peter's Basilica and take a close look at the museums, you will need a whole day, so be sure to set aside enough time. I recommend visiting the museums in the morning and the basilica in the afternoon, so you can climb to the top and enjoy the stunning sunset view of Vatican City. 2️⃣ Tickets ❗️ Vatican Museums You must❗️❗️❗️ book tickets online in advance❗️ Otherwise, you will have to wait in line to buy tickets on-site, and the line can stretch all the way to the city wall. Unless you get up early to line up for tickets, they may sell out on-site. ❗️ St. Peter's Basilica The basilica is free to visit. You just need to line up in the square to go through security. However, you will need a ticket to climb to the top. You can line up to buy tickets on-site in the basilica. I recommend buying a ticket for the elevator. 3️⃣ Guide You must have a guide in Vatican City. Only with a guide can you gain a deeper understanding.
