The difference is Katmai in July Salmon risk their lives to swim upstream from the sea back to the creek where they were born. The brown bears had also been hungry for months, so they ate to their heart's content In September, most of the salmon in Valdez's creeks are the "weak ones" who have completed their mission (aka produce luan) and are about to go to heaven, or who are unable to go upstream.
