Spanish Pyrenees Hike ~ Zaragoza (Region) A unique monumental site in Aragon. Uncastillo is located 110 km north of Zaragoza. Special mention should be made of the Castillo Fortress, whose "Torre del Homenaje" (main building) was originally built in the 11th century and restored in the 14th century, where the Tower Museum is located. There is also the Gothic Palace of Peter IV, dating from the same century and a unique example of Gothic palace architecture in Aragon. Santa Maria Church is a designated cultural heritage site and features a cloister and Romanesque/Gothic decorations. The Church of San Juan is also designated a cultural property and features 13th-century frescoes. Finally, we should mention medieval (13th century) exchanges. It is also worth visiting the Los Bañales Archaeological Zone, one of the main Roman sites in Aragon. The beautiful surrounding countryside makes Ancastillo a great place for hiking.
