The "Imperial Palace" of Mongolia: Bogd Khan Palace, a Fusion of Mongolian, Tibetan, and Han Styles

Nestled on the southern outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, the Bogd Khan Palace is a remarkable complex that encompasses the Summer Palace and the Winter Palace. Constructed in 1893, it was the residence and hub for political and religious activities for the 8th Panchen Lama of Outer Mongolia, Zanabazar. The architecture of the palace beautifully merges Mongolian, Tibetan, and Han styles, showcasing the distinctive Han-Tibetan palace architecture. It stands as one of the most significant historical landmarks in Mongolia and was the opulent abode of the last religious leader, the Jebtsundamba Khutugtu. Within the palace, visitors can explore displays of the lavish attire and everyday items of Mongolian nobility, along with precious gifts received from kings and nobles of neighboring nations. The Bogd Khan Palace is open to the public from 09:00 to 19:00 daily.
