Uchikomachi Kamiyoshiga Residence

The Kamikaze residence consists of 10 buildings in total, including the main building, annex buildings, and a warehouse used by the family in the late Edo period. All buildings are important cultural properties. My family is a wax manufacturer. Therefore, the wood wax production facilities of that time, including kilns, can be seen in the mansion. The house has now been converted into a wood wax museum and exhibition hall, which uses models and videos to explain the production process of wood wax in an easy-to-understand way. In addition, many wax figure making tools from Uchiko and its surrounding areas are also on display to let everyone understand the traditional wax making skills.
