Continuing to see the sokushinbutsu Today, we visited Dainichibo → Mt. Haguro → Nangakuji in that order (Yudono and Gassan won't open until summer, so we'll put them off this time...) Dainichibo was impressive...It's a prayer temple without a parish organization, but there are a lot of things that are enshrined, historically displayed, and not. I went there with the vague feeling that I was going to see the sokushinbutsu, but the amount of information I received was amazing... And the chief priest's stories never stopped Yudono and Gassan are still closed...so we went to Mt. Haguro. The five-story pagoda was being re-roofed, but it was still a nice place that seemed to be an active place of faith. It's an entrance that makes you want to do a proper tour of the three mountains.
