Northern Italian Port City

Trieste is a beautiful small town in northern Italy. We took a two-hour train ride here from Venice. Remnants of the Roman Empire and Venetian Empire can be seen all around the city. The city can easily be explored on foot in a day. Because Trieste is a port city, it has a rich trade and maritime history. We saw many statues and historical buildings along the water. The Piazza Unita d’Italia is also near the port and is an important square in the city. There are historic cafes and restaurants surrounding the square, and we enjoyed a nice dinner at the Caffe degli Specchi. #italy #trieste
