It was built in 2351. The walls of the chapel are painted with paintings of the life of the Buddha. It is the place where Phra Phuttha Suwanna Mongkol (Luang Pho Thong) is enshrined, which is a seated Buddha image in the art of the King U Thong period. It is made of metal. The lap is 4 cubits wide and 6 cubits high in the Mara-Vijaya posture. Somdej Chao Nuan, who was a relative of the Upachaya who was the abbot at that time, was the one who invited it from Wat Sangkharajai, Thonburi. Most people often call it "Luang Pho Thong". It is a beautiful Buddha image. It came by junk boat into the Tha Taphao Canal and was going to pull the Buddha image up in front of the temple at that time. But no matter what, the Buddha image would not move. Later, an old layman dressed in white came to tell him to find a dance drama to lead the way (Chatri drama) and let the villagers help pull the Buddha image up. It turned out that when the villagers did that, The procession of the Buddha image was easy, and it was enshrined as the principal Buddha image in the temple’s ordination hall from that time until today. Inside the Buddha image’s head were five relics enshrined in silver cases. The silver cases were all rotten, so the current abbot, Phra Khru Mongkhon Panyakorn, moved them to a suitable location. His Majesty the King bestowed the name “Wat Suwannamongkol” on Wat Nong Krot. Later, on July 28, 1974, the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall was given the name “Phra Phuttha Suwannamongkol”. On May 14, 1979, His Majesty graciously allowed His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) to travel as his representative, along with Princess Soamsawali, Princess Suwannamongkol, to enshrine the relics on the pedestal of the principal Buddha image and to raise the umbrella over the Phra Phuttha Suwannamongkol. His Majesty granted the Scout flag to the villagers and visited the people who were waiting to welcome him at Suwanna Mongkol Temple. On August 16, 1987, His Majesty graciously granted permission to place the royal initials “B.P.R” on the pedestal of “Phra Phuttha Maha Mongkol”, a total of 9 statues, which are Buddha statues in the walking Buddha posture, 60 inches high, which Suwanna Mongkol Temple, together with civil servants, merchants, and Trat people, created to offer as a royal merit on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 5th cycle birthday anniversary.
