You have to see it with your own eyes to feel the shock of Genbudo Park!

If you happen to visit Kinosaki Onsen, you might as well stop by Genbudo Park, which is only a 10-minute drive from Kinosaki Onsen. I originally thought that this place was very ordinary and it would not take too much time to visit it, but I didn’t expect it to be so well planned. Only when you see it with your own eyes can you know the magnificence of Xuanwu Cave! It is truly a nationally designated natural monument. The caves here are named after the four mythical beasts we are familiar with: Vermillion Bird, Black Tortoise, Azure Dragon, and White Tiger. Genbudo was used as a quarry during the Edo period, so there are artificial caves. Maybe because it is now listed as a national natural monument, there is no way to enter it. Although this area was damaged by the 1922 Chatan earthquake, the collapsed basalt was used to build the stone walls of the houses in Akaishi Village and the bank protection of the Otoshi River that flows through Kinosaki Onsen Street.
