The ancestral hall of the ancient village of the Shi family, and the brothers of the 800-year-old camphor tree

Hu Village is a beautiful town by the water. Residents look around and feel as if they are in a small basin in the mountains. There is a river at the entrance of the village, which is the upper stream of the Xiu River, called the Dingjiang River. This river meanders and slows down upon reaching this place, seemingly enchanted by the beauty of the human world. Thus, within the river course of Hu Village, it forms three bends, and the water flow gradually slows down. There is a saying, 'The water falls in three bends, and the civil and military lords stand on both sides,' making it a truly livable place. In the past, when transportation was inconvenient, Hu Village was a crucial ferry point on the Xiu River, known as 'One mile, three ferries; one mile, three temples.' Boatmen would stop here to rest and pray for a smooth journey ahead. Hu Village was also called 'Shi Family Xia' because all the villagers bore the surname Shi. Today, with ancient trees, ancestral halls, and old wells, one can wash away worries and step back in time to explore the past prosperity of this place, where 'the population exceeded ten thousand, and the sound of drums and soldiers was heard.'
