Tokyo Meguro Brutalist Church: A Cold and Enchanting Fairy Tale on Earth

Deeply influencing Japan's architectural world, Monterrey's masterpiece includes the Catholic Meguro Church St. Anselmo's Cathedral. Inside this reinforced concrete church, you can see a golden canopy standing solemnly as if guarding the cross. The backdrop consists of five circular patterns of varying sizes. Light streams in through the slits on both side walls, making the entire altar appear sacred. The lightning-shaped walls, skylights, and pillar-free structure create a visually striking architectural space. The 18cm-thick side walls feature vertical slits, while the second floor is designed with vibrant stained glass, casting a gentle and warm light throughout the church. The architect Raymond's wife was also a designer, and her works are displayed in the church.
