10-Time-a-Year Tokyo Cherry Blossom Guide

#cherryblossom25 Let’s be real — during cherry blossom season, it’s hard to find a truly tourist-free spot in Tokyo. (Though, surprisingly, Aoyama Cemetery is one such place. We stumbled upon it while walking around — the cherry blossoms were stunning, barely anyone was there, mostly locals walking their dogs or picnicking. If you're not superstitious or don't have specific photo needs, it's definitely a peaceful hidden gem!) Here are a few places I’ve visited myself — spots that are relatively quiet, good for both viewing and snapping beautiful pics 📸✨ 🌸 Cherry Blossoms and the City I’ve always thought red maple leaves belong in gardens, but cherry blossoms? They belong in the city. That’s why in Tokyo, even casual strolls are filled with joy — a random sakura tree popping up on a street corner is enough to bring delight. 📍 Kanda River I’ve shared about the cherry blossom blizzard here before — even during the tail end of sakura season in Tokyo, Kanda River was still in full bloom. Everyone talks about Omokagebashi Bridge, but I think the stretch from Ochiai–Otakibashi–Kubomaebashi is way better. Takizawabashi was an unexpected favorite — beautiful from both near and far angles. You must take a moment to just stand still and soak in the falling petals. We lingered here for ages — not for photos, but just to listen to the wind rustle the blossoms. It felt like pure happiness. 📍 Roppongi We always visit Roppongi Midtown to stock up on our favorite incense from a boutique shop. After shopping, we take a walk around the area — the cherry blossoms nearby are always breathtaking. Even if the bridge is too crowded for pictures, it’s fine — just wander around Sakurazaka and you’re sure to find a quiet road bursting with blossoms 🌸 📍 Shinjuku Gyoen Honestly, the cherry blossoms in Shinjuku Gyoen aren’t the most beautiful, and yes, there are lots of people — BUT it’s so big that you’re bound to find a tree that feels like it's just for you 🌳💕 No one will bother you, no one’s fighting for a spot. The sculptures scattered around the park also make great natural backdrops for photos. This park is perfect for walking barefoot on the grass, lying down, or spacing out — even if you’re not there for sakura, it's the ideal spot to enjoy doing nothing at all. #travel
