While strolling through Kagurazaka, I stumbled upon a quaint little shop called the Cat Post Office. As I pushed open the door and stepped inside, I was greeted by walls and floors filled with Showa-era trinkets. The space was so small that there was barely room to turn around. The shopkeeper, a charming elderly gentleman, had copies of "I Am a Cat" by Natsume Sōseki available for visitors to read freely. Located not far from Natsume Sōseki's former residence, this neighborhood seems to have a special fondness for cats. I picked out a few items I liked, and the shopkeeper carefully wrapped them up for me before seeing me off. Outside the shop, a few sparrows suddenly flew in, seemingly regular visitors to the area. The shopkeeper cheerfully greeted them, saying, "スズメさん、今日も来てくれたね。" (Little sparrows, you've come again today.) This charming shop, aptly named "Cat Post Office," truly captures the nostalgic essence of the Showa era. Without overthinking, perhaps living like a cat has its own unique charm. Here, time seems to slow down, and everything feels leisurely and serene, evoking a sense of longing.
